Frome charities get funding boost from local pub’s quiz night

Two Frome charities have received a £500 funding boost after residents helped raise money at a local pub’s charity quiz night.

Frome Birth Talk and We Hear You received the funds that were raised throughout 2024 at the Bucks Quiz, a regular quiz night held at the Bell Inn, Buckland Dinham.

On Saturday 25th January, the charities were presented with cheques by the pub’s team. “The Bucks Quiz collected over £1,000 for charity, with the overall winners, Cuddies Bahookies, choosing to split the donation between these two local organisations,” explained Jon Evans, organiser and host of the Bucks Quiz.

Community Fundraiser at We Hear You, Robbie Newton, thanked the quiz organisers and everyone at The Bell for their support. He said, “To put this into perspective, your gift will be able to fund over seven counselling sessions, helping us provide emotional support for patients, families, friends and carers who have been affected or bereaved by cancer or any life-threatening condition.”

Counselling Coordinator at Frome Birth Talk, Lucy Hill, said, “Thank you so much for this; we are thrilled to receive this donation. It’s a lovely event that you have created and your support means so much to us.”
