BRIGHT Stars Childcare, a day nursery in Frome, celebrated the life of Joshua Sweet with a fundraising event on Saturday 9th March.
Through a series of fundraising activities and events, an outstanding £2,815.27 was raised, with more money expected to come in.
Joshua Sweet, a happy, giggly and inspiring little boy, suffered from cerebral palsy and sadly lost his life in October 2012, at the tender age of two years and nine months. He attended Bright Stars for almost two years, where he had an amazing impact on both the team and fellow children.
The fundraising event consisted of lots of activities including face painting, a bouncy castle, a reading from local children’s book author Michelle Robinson, various stalls and a big raffle. The raffle included a huge array of great prizes donated by parents and local companies in and around the Frome area.
The event was a huge success with approximately 200 parents, friends and children attending. As Bridget Cottrell, nursery manager said, “We were delighted with the number of people who attended our event and the amount of money that has been raised in memory of Joshua.
“We were touched by the generosity of parents, local residents and local business who gave what they could to support this special and important cause. We would like to say a massive thank you to everyone involved for the overwhelming support that made this event such a success.”
The money raised will be donated to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at the Royal United Hospital Bath. A small amount of the money raised will also go towards a memorial for Joshua in the nursery.
