Frome Community Hospital held their summer fair, the first in four years, on Saturday 13th July. The sum of £1,700 was raised, which will be used in the redesign of the reception area for Marshfield Ward.
Organisers said, “The weather was a little over cast and even some rain caused a bit of panic to begin with, but it eventually dried up and turned into a lovely day.
“We held a poster competition leading up to the fair, for children to enter to win a chance of VIP tickets to the stalls on the day.”
Matron Angela Lloyd, who judged the competition said, “We had lots of lovely entries and it was hard to judge, but Maddie, Ben and Bethany’s posters really stood out and caught my eye. Well done to all of them.”
“Maddie and Ben proved a little camera shy, so Maddie’s mum, Stacey, stood in with Bethany to help Mayor, cllr Mark Dorrington, get the fun started.
“We had over 30 stalls selling lots of lovely items from baby clothes and knitted goods to cakes, plants and books. There was music provided by DJ Steve Carpenter and Frome Town Band did a set for us as well. Frome Town Archers were running a Have a Go session and proved very popular, with Mayor, cllr Mark Dorrington taking aim just after he opened the fair, and not being too far off the bullseye!
“Six members of staff at Sainsburys, who are celebrating their 150th birthday, very kindly came along to provide support, running stalls, cleaning cars and helping to set up and clear away. We had many supporting companies from the local area including Haynes Motor Museum, Orchardleigh, Homewood Park, Homebase, Mole Valley Farmers, Frome Agricultural Society, Centre Parcs, Iford Manor and many more.
“We would like to say a big thank you to everyone who came along, volunteered on the day and donated to our successful event.”
