This year’s Frome Community Lottery grant award presentation evening was hosted by Frome Selwood Tennis Club, where a total of £3,500 was handed out to local charities and groups.
The Frome Community Lottery trustees say they were delighted to present awards to Black Swan Arts, 1st Coleford Scouts, Frome Community Education, The Good Heart, The Pod, Mells Recreation Ground, We Hear You (WHY) and Frome Selwood Tennis Club in May.
The grant money will go towards supporting projects including the purchasing of children’s play equipment, building refurbishments, new signage, promotional materials and laptops.
“The Trust thanks its lottery players for their ongoing contributions to support local community projects and also thanks the charities and organisations, that were represented at the presentation evening, for all their dedicated work in the local community,” says chair of the Trust, Lorna Lewis.
“As a Trust we want to be able to give more money to support more local causes. We want to reach out to new charities and organisations and get lots more people to sign up to play the lottery or make donations.”
If you would like to contribute to support a range of local community projects, please contact fromecommunityl@gmail. com or visit fromecommunitylottery.org.uk to sign up to play.
The Frome Community Lottery was launched in October 2000 to raise money to fund capital projects in Frome and the surrounding villages. For £1 a week, lottery players are in the draw to win cash prizes of up to £25,000, and at the same time help to raise funds to support the work of local community organisations.
Since its launch, the Frome Community Lottery Trust has been able to give grants to more than 80 groups and organisations in Frome and surrounding areas, totalling around £130,000.
