The town council reports, “Frome Town Council received a great bunch of applications from local community groups in this year’s People’s Budget events. The ideas have been assessed for eligibility and suitability and there are now seven exciting events ready to be put to the public vote.
“The line-up includes Frome Food Trail which supports local food heroes, a new dance event for all generations, Photo Frome a celebration of the power of photography, Caravan Art Gatherings to explore diversity through film screening events, the return of Frome’s Children’s Festival, support for the second Frome Kindness Festival to spread kindness throughout the town and Emergence Festival which recognises mothers in the arts.”
Frome Town Council’s development manager, Kate Hellard adds, “Events like these help to bring people together and boost community spirit. We would love to fund them all but nearly £40,000 has been requested, so now it is up to you.
“The People’s Budget is all about giving local people a voice, so make sure you cast your vote and let us know what events you think would be best for our town.”
Local not-for-profit and community groups were asked to submit their ideas along with a budget and video, all of which can be viewed and voted on by residents before 9am on 11th April. There is £25,000 available from the People’s Budget to support these events. To take part in the vote, you must be over the age of 10 and live in the BA11 postcode.
You can take a look at the event ideas and cast your vote either in person at Frome Town Hall or online at www.frometowncouncil.gov.uk/peoples-budget-events
