Local farmer Andy Fussell is preparing to cycle 390 miles in three days to raise money for Make a Special Kid Smile, MASKS, a children’s charity which supports children with special needs.
Andy, who runs Fussels Farm Foods in Rode, will be cycling from Lowestoft to St David’s Head – the widest coast to coast route in the UK – in three days, with his friend Nigel Westacott. The pair are hoping to raise £15,000 for MASKS, a charity which is close to their hearts.
Andy said, “The ride is inspired by my good friend Nigel’s son Freddie. He is a lovely little lad but he needs constant attention. He goes to school at the Booker Park School, part of the Vale Federation of Special Schools, and with the support of his family and his special school and the charity he and lots of kids like him can lead and pursue as normal a life as possible. Nigel is a parent/governor of the school and his wife and mother of Freddie is chair of the trustees of MASKS, so they are truly inspiring and dedicated people.
“I am delighted to be attempting this monster bike ride with Nigel, Lowestoft to St David’s Head, the widest crossing of the country, 390 miles in 3 days, that’s an average of 130 miles a day with daily elevation of 5,200 feet!
