ORGANISERS are celebrating another barnstorming year now the biggest ever Frome Festival has come to a close.
A programme jam-packed with music, arts, comedy, poetry, talks, tours and much more drew over 12,000 people to Frome over the past ten days. A further 8,000+ also visited the Frome Independent Market.
The success has cemented the Festival’s place as one of the best, if not the best, small town festivals in the country.
Festival director Martin Dimery said, “It’s been a really good festival this year and we’ve had a lot of great feedback. I’d say we probably sold over 7,000 tickets, and thousands more people attended free events like the food feast and children’s festival. Our attendance must have been somewhere in the region of 12,000 people, which is brilliant.
“We’ve enjoyed welcoming acts and visitors from across the south-west and, indeed, the country, and have been delighted with the huge support from the local community and businesses. The weather has stayed fine, too, which always helps!”
There were nearly 200 events at this year’s festival, ranging from headline acts The Hoosiers, Mr Scruff and Romesh Ranganathan down to the regular Frome Tunnels walks and open gardens.
Martin continued, “It was pleasing to see that events were well-attended across the board, and we have been inundated with thanks for the quality of this year’s acts. I thoroughly enjoyed Snow Apple and the FB Pocket Orchestra were wonderful.
“Our thanks go out to all those who travelled here to perform or to watch, and to everyone who helped make this year’s festival such a success.”
Frome Festival, now having completed its 15th year, is an annual community-organised eclectic mix of events spread throughout Frome’s venues, pubs, churches, halls and gardens.
