Frome Golf Club member Wayne Srawley has recently completed a very successful season by winning the National finals of the UK public course championships that were held at the “home of golf” at St Andrews.
He, along with fellow Frome members Mike Salmon and Andy Martin qualified for this prestigious event and enjoyed their experience of playing the Eden course at St Andrews.
The typical east coast weather didn’t prove to be too much of a problem for Wayne who brought home the Gross Champions trophy, a magnificent result for him and the club.
Wayne (26) has had a particularly successful season and taken the title of Champion golfer 2014 by winning the club championships, two rounds played over two days, scoring the lowest Gross score, in addition to which has been winning club competitions “The Rum-Flan trophy” and “The Burns Bowl”, he has represented the club in the Avalon league 1st Division where the club A team finished runners-up. He also appears in the list of winners in club monthly medals, not a bad year at all!!
To top the family success, Wayne’s very proud father, Malcolm, won the 2014 club seniors championship to claim maximum bragging rights for family Srawley!! Congratulations to both of them from fellow golfers at Frome GC.
