Frome Independent December market a record breaker

The Frome Independent experienced a record breaking crowd of 15,000 for it’s December market. 

The Park and Ride was full by mid morning gratefully using Frome Medical Centre, Frome Cricket Club and Selwood School car parks.

As well as two buses in operation all day, a selection of Frome Town Councillors ferried visitors from the car parks to town and back by pedal power in a tricycle rickshaw for donations to Fair Frome and Frome’s Big Christmas Get Together.

The two local charities had a presence at the market collecting food donations as well as fundraising, and with donations from park and ride they are predicting it to be a record breaking amount raised.

The much loved pop-up village green was transformed into the planet of Endor as seen in ‘Return of the Jedi’ and set the stage for the Star Wars fancy dress and  junk modelling space ship competitions.

Prizes were kindly given by Ellenbray toy shop and Studio Prints, and the fancy dress winners were  Olive Keech 11, dressed as Princess Leia and Noah Lakeman 9, who was a Jedi knight, and Bruno Somma 8, won the junk modelling spaceship with his replica Millenium Falcon.
