Frome Jazz Club will be hosting its Frome Festival event, ‘Music of the Soul’, this Sunday, 8th July, at the Cornerhouse on Christchurch Street East.
Dark, sensual, transporting, and supremely melodic – tango is the music of the soul, and its greatest exponent was Astor Piazzolla. Frome Jazz Club celebrates Piazzolla’s extraordinary music with one of today’s greatest accordionists, Karen Street, appearing with the Keith Harrison-Broninski trio. There will also be an optional tango workshop before the music starts.
The club was also scheduled to host the Frome Festival Speakeasy (Sultry Songs of the Jazz Age) this Friday, 6th July, but the event has unfortunately been cancelled.
The club says, “We will reschedule this event as soon as possible. However, we are looking forward to seeing you all on Sunday 8th – and don’t forget that there is lots more jazz in Frome Festival, including gigs by regular Frome Jazz Club performers such as John Law and Sam Crockatt. For details, see the Frome Festival website.”
‘Music of the Soul’ starts at 7pm this Sunday, 8th July. Entry is free and early arrival is strongly advised.
