STILL waiting for their new home pitch to be laid. Frome ladies travelled away again to play their league matches.
The 3s had an early start away to newly-relegated Wootton Bassett who played with a determination which could see them promoted by the end of the season. Frome fielding a developing team played well, but the better-drilled team were the victors and took the result with a goal line of 5, which did not reflect the way Frome as a team played.
Frome 2s were also away to City of Bath, playing their second fixture in their new league. Frome took an early lead with a well-struck goal from Molly Pascoe which took CoB by surprise and they upped their game and scored twice before half time. The second half produced a number of opportunities at both ends of the pitch, which CoB were more able to convert.
The young Frome forwards did not give up and continued to create numerous opportunities at the opposing end. Their persistence paid off as Imy Piper found the back of the net twice to give Frome 2s a well-deserved 3 goals at the end of the match. Unfortunately CofB had managed to score 4 and although they gained the 3 points, Frome 2s were very proud of their performance and look forward to the rest of the season.
Frome 1s played Chippenham 2s at Bruton and were pleased with their victorious 3-1 result.
Frome Hockey Club is looking forward to playing back in Frome on their new pitch which is supposed to be finished in early November.
