Frome Lions has raised £1,500 to support the local farming community and rural healthcare services.
For 30 years, the club has worked with farmers in the Frome area by asking them to donate bales of hay or straw, or make a financial contribution.
Each autumn, a team of Lions visits outlying farms to collect the donated hay, which is then sold to farms that need extra supplies or were unable to contribute.
The proceeds are donated to the Lions’ chosen charity – this year, the Frome Market Health Hub, a rural health service offering drop-in health and wellbeing checks for farmers and other agricultural workers every fortnight.
The cheque presentation took place outside the newly erected Richard Oatley Wellbeing Centre, which will become the main building for the health hub at Standerwick Market.
