Learn how to navigate the menopause with a new six-week course at Frome Medical Practice.
The course, which comes under the practices’ Habits for Health programme is designed to support patients to manage their symptoms by making lifestyle changes during the stages of menopause.
Building upon the success of the generic existing Habits for Health programme, ‘Navigating Menopause’ has been created by a multidisciplinary team at the practice, including clinicians, a health psychologist and members of the Health Connections team. It focuses on realistic and manageable lifestyle changes.
The sessions will be held at the practice on Thursday evenings from 6pm and will last for 1.5 hours, starting on 12th June.
Facilitated by a health connector, sessions will also include guest speakers from the wider practice team. This programme is open to Frome Medical Practice patients and will cover the following topics each week:
Week 1: Understanding menopause and getting started (introduction to tiny habits)
Week 2: Sleep
Week 3: Movement and the menopausal body
Week 4: Emotional wellbeing
Week 5: Eating for your life stage
Week 6: Social connection and identity
This programme has been developed in response to patient feedback gathered during women’s health focus groups held by the practice earlier this year.
During these sessions patients said the current menopause group discussion group has been invaluable for sharing information about hormone replacement therapy (HRT) education.
For more information about these sessions, visit the practice website and search ‘menopause.’
