The Frome Memorial Theatre is set to mark its centenary in style with a black-tie Gala Dinner on Friday 18th July, promising a night of fine dining, live music and celebration in the historic Assembly Rooms.

The event will be the grand finale to a year of centenary celebrations for the theatre, which first opened its doors in 1925 as a memorial to those from Frome and the surrounding area who lost their lives in the First World War before being transformed into a theatre.
Tickets are £60 per person and include a welcome drink, with tables of ten available for £600. Guests will enjoy a four-course dinner with coffee and sweet treats.
Entertainment will be provided by international swing and jazz singer Andrew Bourn, who wowed local audiences at the theatre last Christmas. Best known as a member of the Britain’s Got Talent swing group Jack Pack, Andrew has also reached the finals of ITV’s Starstruck, where he paid tribute to Frank Sinatra.
The night will also feature a raffle with some fantastic prizes, and guests are encouraged to bring cash or cards to take part.
Richard Lines, chair of trustees for the Frome Memorial Theatre Trust, said, “The trustees and all of the volunteers at the theatre are honoured to be celebrating 100 years of this great Frome institution.
“Built in the aftermath of the ‘Great War’ to commemorate the fallen from Frome and District, the Memorial Hall, and then the theatre, has been at the heart of Frome’s cultural life for a century.
“Saved from closure in the 1980s and maintained by dedicated volunteers ever since, the theatre continues to thrive thanks to the support of the local community.
“This Gala Dinner is our way of marking this milestone and saying thank you to all who have supported us over the years. We welcome everyone to join us for what promises to be a very special evening in our fantastic Assembly Rooms with a 4-course dinner in a wonderful convivial atmosphere.

“We are excited to have international swing and jazz vocalist Andrew Bourn entertaining us for this special event. Having performed at the Albert Hall and in front of 50,000 for ‘Proms in the Park’, we are looking forward to a more intimate show.”
