
LOCAL wildlife researcher and photographer, Victoria Hillman, has recently been awarded a ‘Highly Commended’ in the British Wildlife Photography awards.
Her image ‘Edges’ of a four spotted chaser dragonfly hidden in the long grass on the Somerset Levels was awarded highly commended in the Hidden Britain category and has two further images in the book of ‘Snakesheads and Rainbows’ white snakeshead fritillaries in the Botanical Britain category and ‘Sand monster’ a toadlet in the sand as ‘Editor’s Choice’ for Outdoor Photography magazine.
Victoria Hillman said, “I am delighted and honoured to have received the award and to have two further images in the book. It is the first time I have been successful in the competition and it is a real honour
“I will also be artist of the month for the whole of December at The Cheese and Grain, with images displayed on the walls of the Grain Bar. The images I have chosen are from the local woodlands featuring the trees and the river. All the prints will be for sale and are all one-offs, the mounted and framed prints will be signed as well. Along with the images on the wall there will be a selection of cards available.”
Victoria will also feature at the Extravaganza Craft Fair at the Cheese and Grain on Friday 1st December with copies of her new book ‘Forgotten Little Creatures.’ The book is available to pre-order now through Victoria’s website www.vikspics.com.
