Frome poet Liam Parker, known locally for his spoken-word performances, has now published his second poetry collection.
’Dreamer’ is a lyrical exploration of the power of words to evoke emotion, and is exquisitely illustrated by Jan Nesbitt, Lucia Lacedelli and Lily Bell.
Liam says, “I felt a deep need to express the healing powers of dreams; exploring this special connection between nature and imagination. I realized in doing so that this would help me to rebuild trust in the world, and encourage both myself and others to release the good in our hearts.”
Artist Jan Nesbitt says, “The poems and paintings arise I think from a sparkling source that is open to us all, and which scampers down on specks of colour and splashes of brightness.”
Frome poet Rebecca Brewin has described Liam’s poetry as, “A constant dipping between dream and the jewels of awareness that are rising into consciousness through nature, the animal and the host of hopes and disillusionments we encounter as human beings in a world that has never seen a greater need for the poet.
“I am deeply encouraged by the growth that springs from these pages and wish that all readers will benefit from the images it excavates to bring to consciousness, the darkness it ascribes to bring to the light.”
Some of the poems in ‘Dreamer’ were heard recently at the ‘Frome Creative Collective’s first year anniversary, (A Sweet Summer Night’s Dream)’ hosted by Liam in the atmospheric garden of the Merchants House, where he’ll also be hosting his book launch in early September. ‘Dreamer’ is available from at Hunting Raven for £11.99.
