FROME resident, David Thompson, has published his second collection of poems called, Where The Love Is that features Frome in a number of poems and touches on themes of nature and the environment, love and loss, memory, imagination and the arts.
David returned to writing poetry during lockdown following a long silence when he published his Days of Dark and Light: Recent Poems with Hobnob Press in September 2021. In his latest work, a section of the book is devoted to exhibitions at the Black Swan Arts centre in Frome, while other poems are dedicated to Frome Wildlife Watch and the Frome Youth Choir, and there are various other references to the town and its surroundings.
David said, “The poems, in a variety of forms and moods, are sometimes light-hearted, sometimes more serious, but always articulate, entertaining, and perceptive. The book is beautifully designed and produced by its publisher, John Chandler of Hobnob Press, and is attractively illustrated with photographs.”
David had a long career in translating, editing, and publishing with the United Nations in New York and Bangkok and the World Health Organization in Geneva before settling in France and free-lancing for many different international organizations. He finally returned to Frome a while ago after spending more than half his life abroad.
The new book is available from Winstone’s Hunting Raven Books in Cheap Street, Frome, and from Hobnob Press’s online bookstore (www.hobnobpress.co.uk/books/poetry) or the usual internet platforms.
