FROME Police Station enquiry office has had its opening hours changed as part of a review by Avon & Somerset Police estate team – but it’s not good news.
The enquiry office will now be open from 10am-6pm from Monday to Friday which will mean that the station will no longer be open later on Tuesdays and Thursdays evenings as previously, and will not open at weekends.
The office will also be closed from 1.30pm-2.15pm each day for lunch
The new opening hours will then be changed again at the end of October when the enquiry office will move to Frome Library and will be open from Monday to Friday from 9.30am-5pm.
Temporary assistant chief constable Nikki Watson said, “Our enquiry offices are a vital channel for members of public to interact with us and we want to make sure we are providing the best service to meet the demand we face.
“We have spoken to partners, staff and members of the public and we were consistently told our opening hours can be confusing and it would be simpler if we removed alternating patterns and instead open the same hours every week.
“We will be making changes to our police stations in the coming months and years so there will be further changes, but it was important for us to provide a simpler service for our communities as soon as possible.
“The largest police stations will open seven days a week from 8am until 8pm and are located across the force. Broadbury Road (Bristol), The Bridewell (Bristol), Patchway, Bath, Yeovil, Taunton, and Bridgwater will all be open these hours.
