NOVEMBER was a busy month for Frome Running Club with members competing in a number of events far and wide.
The club say, “Over the Hills was a multi terrain race (including a river crossing) over 12km which was held on Sunday 6th November. Paul Horton completed the course in 57:36, Lynn Brand (vet 60) finished in 1:21:11, giving her 11th in age category and Zoe Daly (senior) crossed the line in 1:20:31.
“On Sunday 20th November three members took part in the ‘Chilly 10km’. This is a 10km race run over a flat, smooth-running surface on the famous Castle Combe race circuit. First home for Frome was Barrie Knight, in a time of 00:49:50 which gave him first in age category (supervet 70). Then the ladies followed, Helen Bakunowicz in 00:53:16 and Clare Dunning in 00:59:24
“Sunday 27th November was a particularly busy day for Frome runners. Ian Holmes ran the Brent Knoll 5.75-mile race in 53:49 and four Frome runners took on the local AVR Half Marathon. First home was Emma Surridge in 1:42:47 (which was third in age category). Next home was Ben Spicer in 1:55:06, then Barrie Knight in 1:56:45 and Julie Chilvers in 1:57:22
“Rachel Bala was the sole Frome representative at the Downton Half Marathon set in the beautiful New Forest countryside. Rachel completed this scenic run in 1:59:17, well done to Rachel for a sub two-hour half marathon.
“Lynn Brand and Paul Horton flew the flag for Frome Running Club on Sunday 27th November in the Tri-County Cross Country Championships held at Bath University with Lynn earning a gold medal for her efforts.”
Frome Running Club offers both on and off-road training and welcomes new members, whatever the ability.
