THE Frome Show returns next week, and organisers are promising a jam-packed schedule of entertainment, displays and family fun.
The Global Cheese Awards, livestock and equine showing, a music stage, children’s entertainment – including children’s TV presenters Mr Bloom and Andy Day, arena entertainment, the nation’s favourite French chef, Jean Christophe Novelli, home and garden competitions, and much, much more will be on offer at the event at the West Woodlands Showground on Saturday September 11th, from 9am.
Show manager, Charlotte O’Neill – who at the age of 23 is the youngest show manager in the UK – told Frome Times, “We’re feeling confident that it will be a successful show – we’re looking forward to welcoming back traders, visitors and competitors to what looks to be a show to remember!”
There will also be music performed by Jackdaws Choir and Frome Town Band, a funfair and inflatables, a dog show hosted by the Garston Veterinary Group, vintage machinery, extreme bike battle performances, heavy horses, mounted games, the Shetland Performance Display Team, Mere Falconry, Mighty Mr Smith – Strong Man, The Strolling Gardeners, and a beagles and hounds display.
In the agricultural field, there will be performances from The Hogg Show – the UK’s only pig stage show, livestock including sheep, dairy goats and pygmy goats.
And there’s a host of free, have-a-go activities, including casting lessons, circus skills, ‘clayzer’ shooting, archery, climb the wall and axe throwing.
The event will also be a poignant one for the Frome Show team. Show manager Charlotte explains, “David Millard who is our president, this is his last show – he is stepping down and moving away from the area. So this will be his send-off show!”
Measures have been taken to make the event ‘Covid-safe’, and visitors are being encouraged to buy their tickets in advance either online or from Garston Vets, who are one of the show’s main sponsors.
There will also be more space between each trade stand, extra hand sanitizing stations will be placed around the Showground and it is advisory to wear facemasks in the Cheese Pavilion and marquees.
Charlotte added, “We also recommend that visitors take a lateral flow test before attending the show.”
