Frome Town Ladies FC lost their unbeaten home South West League Premier Division record on Sunday 30th November when they were beaten 5-3 by championship chasing Brislington Ladies at the Blindmans Brewery Stadium.
Frome went into the game without defensive lynch pin Karen Perkins and her omission proved costly to the home side.
Frome had gone quite a while without a game and this rustiness showed in the early stages as they found themselves 3-0 down in the first half hour by a combination of defensive errors and clinical finishing.
Just before the break Frome got a lifeline when Ali Bryant sped clear of the Brislinton defence and hammered the ball high into the net.
The second half saw Frome coming more into the game and after a neat passing move captain Devon Rich made it 2-3 with a neat finish low to the keepers left. This rocked Brislington and Frome had a good 10 minutes of solid pressure before another defensive lapse was the visitors claim their fourth goal.
Back came Frome and they went down the other end and almost immediately they scored the third goal courtesy of Kasey Evans who finished clinically.
Try as they might Frome could not get the equaliser and they suffered a mortal blow when Brislington broke away in the final stages and put the game out of sight with their fifth strike.
Frome will be disappointed with their first half display which was well below the standards they have set this season, but showed a lot of character to produce the fight back they did.
