FROME Town Football Club have a chance to create history as they have reached the final of the Somerset Premier Cup. If the Robins are successful, it will be only the fifth time they have won the cup in the club’s 110-year history.
The Robins will face Calor League Division One side Taunton Town in the cup final, after beating Toolstation Western Premier Division side Odd Down (Bath) 3-2 after extra-time in last week’s semi-final.
Town last won the title in 2009, when they beat Paulton Rovers 3-1 in the final, in what was also a promotion season from the Western Premier Division.
The other three successes came in 1967 when they beat Yeovil Town, 1969 where they shared the trophy with Yeovil after a 3-3 draw on aggregate and in 1983 where they beat Taunton Town over two legs.
The date and location for the final have yet to be confirmed.
