FROME Town United Football Club (FTUFC) held an open night for girls to train with the Frome Town Ladies’ team as a way to mark International Women’s Day – and over 75 girls turned up!
The night proved to be so popular that six groups were created which rotated around six different footballing activities.
The club say, “This well supported event produced by Ben Bollard shows FTUFC’s commitment to offering opportunities to all girls. Its growing Wildcats team, made up of the youngest girls, have a great squad and we have also seen the Under 13 Girls grow in squad size to just under 30.
“As a group we support the Frome Town Ladies as many go regularly to home matches to support and mascot their matches. None of this would be possible without the support and commitment from all the coaches who spend hours of their free time to bring this football to Frome.”
FTUFC under 13s cup run
Another great result by FTUFC Under 13s who progressed to the fourth round of the Wiltshire Cup in their first season. Frome started with early pressure to go 2-0 up in the first half, but Ashton Keynes came back strong to pull one back. Frome held on and had the goalkeeper to thank for some magnificent saves and they progressed to the next round as 2-1 winners.
