Frome Town Youth FC Club secretary and U7 coach, Sarah Davis, has been named Somerset Children’s Coach of the Year.
The award recognises her services to Frome Town Youth FC, as well as her coaching roles within local primary schools and the organisation of two successful inter-schools football tournaments.
Sarah attended an awards evening in Taunton on Friday 18th May. The Sport England-funded Somerset Activity and Sports Partnership (SASP) awards ceremony was perfectly timed with the arrival of the Olympic torch to the UK. SASP hope this inaugural ceremony will become an annual occasion to celebrate the talented young sports people and influential coaches in the county.
Sarah, accompanied by her husband, was treated to a two-course meal prepared by the students at Somerset College surrounded by almost 200 people, many of which have represented their region and in some cases, country, in wide ranging sports including archery, sailing, basketball and swimming. Sarah said, “I was so proud to be presented with this award, especially in the presence of past, present and future Olympians. I absolutely love what I do and take great pride in watching children grow in confidence whilst taking part in sport.”
