FROME will kick off the festive season with its annual Christmas celebrations and Christmas lights switch-on on Friday 1st December.
Join in from 4.30pm where you can indulge in delicious festive food, drink a cup of mulled wine or cider, listen to the great sound of Frome’s own Samba band and visit Father Christmas at No 5 cafe.
There will also be a wealth of children’s games, stalls and crafts to take part in alongside a performance from Frome favourites Rocktopus at 5.20pm.
This year will see a ‘Light the Night’ procession where lantern-bearers will make their way down various routes into town. You can follow the procession with homemade jam jar lanterns or make your own lantern at one of the lantern-making workshops at the Welsh Mill Hub.
Mel Day and Aliss Vaas, organisers of the workshops said, “So far there has been around 500 participants, so we hope to see an amazing array of different lit willow and paper lanterns parading through the streets of Frome, led by Jamba de Samba.
“We are stunned with the response and delighted by how much people are enjoying making them. We are hoping this could become a regular event every year.”
The community can join in singing carols, with accompaniment from Frome Town Youth Band and await the switch on of the Christmas lights. The night is expected to be a magical and very special evening, that will no doubt be remembered for years to come.
