A unique variety night is coming to the Merlin Theatre, hosted by a Frome-based husband and wife duo.
Heather Westwell and Feargus Woods Dunlop are bringing their exciting new show, Pick & Mix, to Frome on Saturday 28th June, featuring top acts built around an audience-led gameshow quiz with real prizes.
There will be music from international sensation Rodney Branigan, stand-up comedy by BBC New Comedian of the Year Paul Hilleard, and dance courtesy of Frome’s stars of the future, TRI.ART.
Organisers say, “Imagine a classic Saturday night in front of the TV watching top acts perform, with games hosted by Brucey. Swap the long-chinned legend for the long-legged Fearg, and replace staring silently at your TV while second-screening your phone with being part of a lively and excited Merlin audience enjoying a glorious evening of pure entertainment — and you’ve arrived at Pick & Mix.”
Heather and Feargus are best known for creating successful national touring comedy theatre, including their ‘Crimes…’ series of comedy thrillers.
“We’ve always had entertainment at the heart of our shows, and this is a return to our roots,” said Feargus. “We started out performing sketches at variety nights, mixed-bill events, festivals and cabarets, which grew into our first full-length shows and then tours.
“There is nothing quite like going for a night out with a group of friends, having a good time, and seeing such an eclectic selection of live performance. We are only programming acts committed to ‘old-fashioned’ entertainment — the audience’s enjoyment comes first. To the point where we may well be bribing them with prizes and sweets.”
