THE first ever Frome Lit Fest is fast approaching and the festival’s organisers are urging people to get booking!
Tina Gaisford-Waller, manager of Winstone’s Hunting Raven Books and co-founder of the festival, said, “We have such a great line up of fabulous authors and fun events, for adults and children. The people of Frome are notoriously last-minute bookers, which is to be completely honest rather nerve-wracking for us, so we are urging everyone who would like to come and support this first year of the festival to get booking their tickets as soon as possible to ensure all events go ahead as planned.”
The festival is launching at a precarious time for the arts, with many major established literary festivals seeing a sharp drop in tickets sales causing a flurry of cancellations.
Tina says, “We know that times are tough, and we are more than a little aware how crazy it is to be launching a festival right now. But we’ve long believed that Frome deserves its own dedicated literary festival and we know, from our experience through the pandemic, that books have the power to get us through tough times. We’re hopeful we can give all the fantastic authors we’ve booked a warm Frome welcome.
“The majority of festival events take place at the Merlin Theatre in Frome, with the others taking place at the Town Hall (with the exception of the cheese and cider event which is at the Silk Mill).
“Haven’t yet seen the brilliant line up? Browse all events on the website or come into Winstone’s Hunting Raven Books in Cheap Street, Frome to pick up a brochure and we will happily help you choose the perfect event for you!”
Tickets for all 16 events are bookable online at www.frome litfest.com or via the Merlin Theatre Box office (10-12, Mon-Fri) 01373 465949.
