EXCITEMENT is already building for this year’s Frome Carnival – and organisers are appealing for more people to get involved.
The carnival committee is on the hunt for people to help look after some special guests from Frome’s twin towns, and for more groups and organisations to take part in the procession, which is taking place on Saturday 21st September.
The committee has announced that representatives from all three of Frome’s twin towns will be coming to the carnival.
Chair of the carnival committee, June Barnes, said, “Frome Twinning Association has arranged for visitors from Château-Gontier, in the Mayenne, France; Murrhardt in Baden Württemberg, Germany; and Rabka-Zdrόj, Poland, to visit Frome during carnival. We are delighted to have them and we will be arranging an English tea for our visitors after the carnival.
“The visitors from the twin towns are looked after by hosts – but we do need more volunteers to provide accommodation. If anyone can help, please contact me on 01373 461 625.”
About the upcoming procession in September, June said, “There is still time for more entries for the procession. As an incentive, for floats of a certain size there is a prize of £300 to help towards decorations. More information is available on the Frome Carnival website. Or call our entry procession manager, Kevin Sivell on 07914 838464.”
