Brighten up a dreary January with some soulful and joyful singing! Cooper Hall is to welcome Daniel Thomas to Frome, to lead a full day gospel singing workshop for all abilities.

“Daniel Thomas is an internationally recognized multi-faceted, multi-dimensional, multi-talented bohemian, with choral directing experience that spans over 30 years.
“His extensive list of attributes – singer, songwriter, vocal coach, vocal arranger, choir director, backing vocalist and keyboardist, in the genres of dance, gospel, soul, pop, funk, jazz, rock and classical.
“In the past, he has served as the choir director of The London Community Gospel choir – with which he toured extensively, along with many other choirs both in the UK and abroad, including the Grammy Award-winning Love Fellowship Choir (New York) and the International Mass Choir (900 voices) in Stockholm, 2010. Currently there are five choirs under his jurisdiction, including Brighton Goes Gospel (workshop and performance choirs) and The House Gospel Choir. He also serves as a consultant choir director to many church and community choirs, running ‘boot-camp’ style workshops and master classes with their members, as well as organizing and directing choirs for TV shows and music festivals.
As a vocal coach, he has worked with Girls Aloud, Blue, Boy George, X Factor and The Voice contestants. As a backing vocalist, he has worked with the likes of Elton John, Luther Vandross, James Brown, Cher, Boy George, Blue, Simon Webbe, Emeli Sande, Beverley Knight, Peter Andre, Westlife, Lionel Richie, Sting, Primal Scream, Spiritualized, The Kooks, The 1975 – to name a few!
Music has always played a big part in his life from the very early age of five, where he started playing the piano at home. It was soon recognized that he had a natural talent for music and so was encouraged to play in church services. During his teenage years, he spread his wings to playing, singing and directing other local choirs and groups and was soon in high demand.
In the words of the late, great James Brown “Maaan, you can sing, play, work the choir – you can do everythang!”
