Fair Housing for Frome received a grant of £9,700 from the TDS Charitable Foundation last month to fund their work of promoting a more fair private rented sector in the town.
“The private rented sector is under enormous pressure to fill the gaps and to provide housing for individuals and families on low incomes” said chairperson Ali Barclay. “Our long-term goal is to make the private rented sector in Frome more fair, transparent and high quality, so that it can fulfil its role in providing decent affordable accommodation to meet the needs of people in the town.”
Plans include establishing a Frome Landlords Association, a Homeshare scheme for isolated elderly people, and a series of events that will reach out to private rented sector tenants and listen to what support they most need.
FHfF is now recruiting for a part-time tenant and lodger project worker to help develop these projects over the next six months. For more information see www.fairhousingforfrome .org.uk.
