THE local Green Party is inviting local people to show their love for the climate this Valentine’s week, with two environmental campaign events in Frome.
As part of the nationwide ‘Show the Love’ campaign, the two events this week will explore the importance of investing in protecting the climate.
‘Bursting the Bubble! The End of Fossil Fuel’, a panel discussion and Q&A will take place on Thursday 11th February at 8pm at the Cheese and Grain.
Discussion will focus on the issue of the ‘carbon bubble’, the dangers of in fossil fuel companies, and campaigns to divest funds from fossil fuel energy companies.
The event will feature speakers Sam Lund-Harket of Global Justice Now, Green Party Mendip district councillor Shane Collins, and Frome Town Council’s Anna Francis.
The room will be open from 7.30pm for a more informal social chat before the event begins at 8pm. Entry is free and the bar and cafe will be open.
Then on Saturday, 13th February, East Mendip Green Party will host the ‘Show the Love’ stall from 10am, also at the Cheese and Grain.
There will be lots of information available on climate change, divestment and wider environmental issues. There will then be a gathering in the Cheese and Grain cafe from 2pm for a Green tea and more discussion on ways forward to save the climate.
This will also be a chance to meet Mendip District Council’s three Green Party councillors – Shane Collins, Des Harris and Stina Falle, all of whom represent Frome.
