With half term only a couple of weeks away, the Merlin is planning some special treats for its younger audiences.
On Wednesday 28th October at 2.00pm there’s a showing of one of the most charming of Disney’s animations, ‘Lady and the Tramp’.
After a misunderstanding, pampered spaniel Lady finds herself on the streets where she is befriended and protected by the tough stray mutt Tramp. A romance begins to blossom between the two dogs, but their many differences, along with more drama at Lady’s household, threaten to keep them apart. Tickets are £5.50 for adults, £3.50 for children. Recommended three years plus.
There’s live theatre for children on Thursday 29th October with performances of Lyngo Theatre’s ‘Puss in Boots’ at both 11.00am and 2.00pm. Patrick Lynch from Cbeebies performs a magical story that is a perfect 50 minutes for ages three-eight, using a special sloping mini-stage and surprising the audience with drawers, trap-doors, puppets and shadow-play. Tickets are £8 adults, £5.50 children.
Youngsters aged seven to twelve who’d like to perform themselves, can join Tri.Art Theatre School’s popular ‘Thriller Workshop’ on Tuesday 27th October from 11.00am to 3.00pm. Always a sell out, this ever-popular workshop is the perfect half-term scary treat.
In the morning the kids will learn a Halloween themed dance routine; then in the afternoon they’ll be transformed into a ‘real, living, breathing zombie’ ready to perform to parents and friends at 3.00pm. Participants need to bring a ripped up t-shirt or costume, snacks and lunch. Make up will be included. Cost of workshop is £15.
