There is still time to catch the Merlin Theatre’s Christmas production of the classic fairy tale Hansel and Gretel.
This musical adaptation, based on the original story by the Brothers Grimm, features an original script and songs created by the same award-winning team that brought you The Little Mermaid.
The story opens with Hansel and Gretel’s village struggling following a bad harvest. After reaching a deal with the villainous Baker, the Woodcutter finds himself with a new wife and wicked stepmother for his children. She manages to ‘lose’ them in the evil cursed woods. Will they ever find their way home, and is all what it seems when they discover a beautiful house made entirely from gingerbread and sweets?
Join Hansel and Gretel as they meet all of the characters including the Evil Witch, the Wise Woman, the Baker Boy, the Travelling Theatre Troupe and the cheeky meddling Pigeons Will and Jake.
The show runs until Saturday 16th December with various times and tickets starting from £5.50. They can be bought online merlin theatre.co.uk or by calling the box office 01373 465949. The show is suitable for a family audience and is the perfect way to kick start the festive season!
“The Merlin Theatre is delighted to have received sponsorship from Harris & Harris and The Frome Times to enable us to donate tickets to families who wouldn’t otherwise be able to experience the Christmas Show, and to be collaborating with Fair Frome to allocate the tickets,” said Claudia Pepler, Director, Merlin Theatre.
Wendy Miller-Williams, Fair Frome, added, “We are thrilled to be in a position to offer tickets to people who are desperately in need of a treat at this time of year.”
