Frome Falcons Powerchair Football Club came away with their first ever League point, as they salvaged an extremely thrilling and entertaining draw in the South West League in Exeter.
The Falcons, playing their 5th game in their history and of the season, were proudly represented by the youngest team of players in the League, all of whom were under the age of 15.
An experienced and seasoned Cheltenham PFC team ran away to a 2-goal lead at half time, with debutant keeper and star performer, Koven Jones, not being able to save a clinical penalty.
A rejuvenated Falcons team snatched back a goal of their own after some quick thinking from captain Joshua Lancaster from a short-range set-piece.
With just 10 minutes left of the second half remaining, a powerful surge by Joseph Hartley, just 8 years old, drove the ball away from players over 5 times his age, as he snuck the ball between the goalkeeper and the defender.
The roar from the watching crowd echoed around the hall as the Falcons drew level in emphatic style. With both teams pushing forward for a winning goal, and spurred on by winger Dom Tiley, alas the dream conclusion was not meant to be. Yet for the young set of boys at the very beginning of their football journey, and indeed the coaches and supporters, the single point symbolised a whole lot more.
Frome Falcons are in the League and they are here to play some serious football.
