SOME of Frome’s most talented performers will be taking to the stage at the Merlin Theatre this month.
Frome Drama Club’s spring production is ‘The Ghost Train’ and will be on from Thursday 6th to Saturday 8th April. Now over 90 years old, the play by Arnold Ridley (later famous as Private Godfrey in ‘Dad’s Army’) is one of those classics that has never been far from a stage.
Described by a Guardian reviewer of a recent revival as an ‘old-fashioned but superbly effective play’ and genuinely scary, the plot features passengers stranded at a lonely station haunted by the ghost of an ill-fated train. Tickets are £10, with concessions £8.
Younger talent takes centre stage at 6pm on Thursday 13th April when the students of Tri.Art Dance Academy present ‘The Golden Key: A Journey through the Land of Grimm’.
On a cold winter’s morning a poor child stumbles across a golden key and a chest while out foraging for wood. The key turns on and on as the child unlocks story after story. Join the cast as they dance their way through the enchanted forest, meeting strange and magical characters from the Grimm brothers’ tales on the way. All tickets £7.50 (please note there is one performance at 6pm, not as advertised in the brochure).
