Frome Running Club’s Juniors have made a storming start to the new school year with standout performances in the Wiltshire Athletic Association Junior Race Series.
Braving what one parent described as “biblical rain and thunder,” the Juniors shone at the Warminster Carnival Chase 3k event on September 7th. The A team secured first place, while the B team narrowly missed out on third by just one point.
Isy led the way for the girls, claiming first overall, with Martha finishing fourth and Rosie ninth. Also scoring for the girls were Clara who was 10th followed by Willow and Lilly. The boys all finished in the top 10, with Louis taking third, Tom fourth, Coen seventh and Ben tenth.
Isy, Martha and Louis also each topped their respective age groups, adding to the team’s success.
With these results, Frome Juniors currently sit second in the overall WAA team standings, with three more races scheduled in October to complete the season.
Looking ahead, the Juniors are eager to continue their progress this autumn, competing in further WAA meets as well as cross-country races.
Training for the Juniors takes place on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5.15pm to 6.15pm, running year-round with breaks aligned to the school calendar. New runners are always welcome to join.
