Artist Alexandra Brown will be exhibiting her paintings at Rook Lane Chapel as part of the Frome Festival.
Alexandra Brown is known for her mysterious and vibrant paintings of magical creatures and sacred trees using oil and copper leaf. The exhibition will also feature “For Those In Peril”, a series of tiny paintings inspired by images past and present of migration and boats at sea.
Regarding her art show, Alexandra said, “When the opportunity arose for me to exhibit my work at Rook Lane Chapel during the Frome Festival I jumped at the chance. The space is the perfect foil for this series of paintings which explore the human tendency to find meaning and sacredness in the natural world. Forests and churches are places of mystery, and reverence. In this exhibition the altar piece is a triptych of three trees: the ancient wishing tree for our hopes and prayers and blossom trees for hope and new life. “
Alexandra Brown who is part Dutch, studied art at Wimbledon School of Art and The Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam. Alexandra now lives in Bruton and her studio is at The Silk Mill in Frome. Her work is in many private collections including that of the The Nederlandsche Bank.
