THE pressure for free car parking in Frome is gathering strength, as shoppers make their voice heard in a new petition.
The petition, which is held at Cafe La Strada in Cheap Street, asks people to sign if they agree that they would shop or spend more leisure time in Frome if the council operated car parks with one hour free car parking.
Jude Kelly, the owner of Cafe La Strada who started the petition said, “I wanted to know what the public want, and the reasons why people are and are not coming into Frome. If the reason is parking, we can then take the petition to the council.”
Jude added she was impressed by the volume of people who have signed the petition, particularly as the first page was full within the first 20 minutes that the petition was available for people to sign. “You know if it’s full in 20 minutes, it’s something that people feel very deeply about!” she said.
