RED Nose Day is back! And it’s time to do something funny for money for the nation’s favourite fundraiser.

Red Nose Day is back on Friday 18th March, with everyone from celebrities to local organisations getting involved in doing something funny for money.
Whatever you’re doing, take a quick picture, send it over, and you might feature in the next issue of the Frome Times.
The Lamb in Frome is holding a ‘Do Something Funny for Money Night.’ and will be serving a special Red Nose Ale, brewed by Blindman’s Brewery, the proceeds of which will be donated to Comic Relief. There will also be an event planned by Saturday Afternoon Theatre Company (SATCO) in The Lamb, which is being kept tightly underwraps, with rumours suggesting ukuleles and men in dresses!
A contribution of 50p from pupils at Christchurch First School will allow them to dress in red and eat a special Red Nose Day cake.
Sainsbury’s Frome is gearing up to Friday’s Comic Relief Red Nose Day. Store manager Richard Treharne said, “We hope our customers will enjoy and support the events we have planned.”
As well as buying Comic Relief merchandise, for the second year running customers can also make a donation to Red Nose Day as they shop through the ‘charity rounding’ initiative which lets customers round up their bill at the checkout – an easy way to donate your spare change.
To date, Sainsbury’s has helped to raise over £48million for Comic Relief since the partnership began in 1999. This year Sainsbury’s hopes to raise over £9million for Red Nose Day.
Comic Relief spends all the money raised by the public to give extremely vulnerable and disadvantaged people in the UK and Africa, a helping hand to turn their lives around. Wherever you live in the UK you’re highly likely to be within 30 miles of a project supported by Comic Relief. Some of the money raised could be put to good use locally as Somerset- based charity Youth Volunteering Project is just one of the projects doing fantastic work with a Comic Relief grant right here in the local community.
