It’s all go at Spellbound as they are busy rehearsing for their summer production of Bugsy Malone.
This year the young cast are facing new challenges; in addition to learning well known musical numbers including ‘My name is Tallulah’, ‘Fat Sam’s Grand Slam’ and the title song ‘Bugsy Malone’, they have also been busy filming silent movie footage to be incorporated into the musical in what is a new opportunity for many of the nine to 16 year old cast members and experience for the young camera crew.
There are lots of treats for the performers and more to share with the audience from gangster chases in a vintage Riley, loaned by local enthusiast Nigel Day, to the careful or not so careful, aiming of custard pies and splurge guns!!
Spellbound is the youth section of Frome Amateur Operatic Society and will be going back to the days of American Prohibition transforming the Frome Memorial Theatre into Fat Sam’s Grand Slam – the secret Speakeasy club – on the 4th, 5th and 6th of August. Performances start at 7.00pm. Please call the box office on 01373 4627965 for tickets.
