After a spectacular launch into the autumn season with a sold-out special 20th Anniversary Fatboy Slim Cheese & Grain show, the season continues with a diverse and exciting programme, seeing Frome punching well above its weight with some superb entertainment worthy of big city venues.
Top acts coming up include comedians Rory Bremner and Nish Kuma; music from The Osmonds, Lindisfarne, Frome’s own Cara Dillon, Wishbone Ash and Bez & Rowetta of Happy Mondays’ fame; Craig Charles’ Funk & Soul night and talks by one of the world’s most renowned adventurer/explorers, Benedict Allen and BBC TV wildlife presenter Gordon Buchanan.
Comedy fans will be thrilled with the lineup of guests including Nish Kumar on 14th October, Rory Bremner and Jan Ravens on 8th November and Robert Newman on 17th Nov while the ever-popular Against the Grain comedy club returns on Tuesday 9th November.
As well as comedy, there are some fantastic talks from Colin Stafford-Johnson, the Irish award-winning cameraman on 19th October; adventurer/explorer Benedict Allen on 26th October and BBC TV wildlife presenter Gordon Buchanan on 7th November.
Get up and dance with superb DJ nights Huey Morgan’s NYC Block Party on 13th October, Craig Charles’ Funk & Soul on 16th November and Bez & Rowetta of Happy Mondays’ fame on 22nd December, with a DJ and live singing mash up!
Folk fans will enjoy the pioneers of Folk-Rock, Lindisfarne on 11th November, Seth Lakeman on 22nd November and Cara Dillon with her beautiful Upon a Winter’s Night concert on 16th December.
A jam-packed music programme continues with chart-toppers Space on 20th October; Reef on 1st November; Absolute Bowie on 2nd November; Mik Artistik on 3rd November, Wishbone Ash on 10th November and Afro Celt Soundsystem on 15th November. There’s a welcome return from The Upbeat Beatles on 23rd November; Scottish rockers Big Country on 24th November; and Enter Shikari on 6th December; while there is a tribute to Amy Winehouse with a full 8-piece band on 7th December.
December also sees the Undead Raisins (the acoustic project from Hundred Reasons) on 9th December; The Osmonds on 14th December, and New Purple Celebration celebrating the life of Prince on 18th December. You can also see in the New Year with The Unravelling Wilburys on 31st December.
The Cheese and Grain also boasts some magnificent reggae and ska with Bob Marley tribute Legend on 12th October, plus a real coup for the venue when Toots and the Maytals perform on 27th October. Then get festive with the superb ska legend Neville Staple Band on 21st December.
There’s also the return of the hugely successful drag night with the Jingle Ball on 20th December plus all the markets and special events such as the always popular Chocolate Festival!
