Bay City Rollers to perform at the Cheese & Grain
They might not quite be able to claim to be the ‘tartan teen sensations’ they were in the 1970s, but the demand to hear the Bay City Rollers performing to fanatical crowds as they are treated to all the old hits, retaining all the original magic, has never died down.
And audiences in Frome will be getting a rare chance to catch the band in such an intimate surrounding, with the band performing at the Cheese & Grain on Saturday 6th December.
2014 marks the 40 year anniversary of their first hit single ‘Remember’; the band would go on to sell over a 100 million records in their four decade career. Being best known for their hits such as ‘Bye, Bye Baby’, ‘Shang-A-Lang’, ‘I Only Wanna Be With You’ and countless others, they were hailed as being the only band that could follow The Beatles.
The band would go on to make good on this prediction, becoming international superstars in their own right. The band still remains one of the best-selling acts in the history of pop music, and culturally icons in their own right.
This will be an extremely rare chance to catch living legends in action, and something that you won’t want to miss! Advance booking is advisable.
Tickets for the show on Saturday 6th December, cost £18 in advance. Contact the box office on 01373 455420 www.cheeseand grain.com
Joan Armatrading Farewell Tour
After 42 years of performing, three times Grammy nominated British singer songwriter Joan Armatrading is for the first and last time ever touring as a solo artist.
This tour will mark her farewell from full time touring, and one of the select dates chosen on these intimate shows will be at the Cheese & Grain on Saturday 29th November.
Joan was the first female UK artist to debut at number 1 in Billboards Blues charts, also being the first female UK artist to be nominated for a Grammy in the blues category. She has taken her rightful place as one of Britain’s leading female artists. With songs such as ‘Love And Affection’, ‘Willow’, ‘Drop The Pilot’ and ‘Lovers Speak’ all very much standing the test of time.
Joan Armatrading said, “I will never retire but this will be the last major tour that I will undertake. For the first time these concerts will be me solo on stage playing the guitar and piano and singing. I want these concerts to be a special lively interactive one to one experience.
“I have absolutely enjoyed the last 42 years of performances, but now, with my final major tour, I want to capture a unique memory for both myself and the audience.”
The show promises to be a spectacular one off event, not to be missed. The venue will have a reduced capacity due to the event being seated, so very early advance booking is encouraged.
Tickets for the show on 29th November £28.50 advance (seated). Box office: 01373 455420 – www.cheeseandgrain.com
