Frome Town 12-0 Victoria Sports –
Ladies Somerset Cup
Frome kicked off their Somerset Cup campaign with an away trip to Victoria Sports.
Being drawn against a team two leagues below them Frome were confident they could bring home the win.
Frome made an immediate impact taking less than 10 minutes to open the scoring through Becky Yeo. The chances for Frome were coming through thick and fast but a very experienced goalkeeper for Victoria Sports kept the shots at bay. It was Devon Rich who managed to find a gap and slotted home goal number 2. Despite the pitch condition due to severe rain Frome were still able to have spells of good play which ultimately led to Yeo and Rich scoring again. By half time Frome had already established a comfortable 6-0 lead, however this didn’t stop them continuing to push for more. They kept the momentum from the first half and this paid off as Kasey Evans started her stint on the score sheet.
Next on the score sheet was Ann-Marie Hervey who coolly volleyed in a corner from the left. After numerous chances Steph Isaacson finally got the goal she’d be hoping for with a right footed shotto make it 11-0. Yeo completed her streak of goals with a well placed shot bringing her final tally to five and Fromes to 12-0.
All credit goes to Victoria Sports goalkeeper who despite the score, most definitely saved them from conceding a lot more.
