FUNDRAISER and world record breaker, Rachel Clark, is urging participants for the skittles world record attempt in Frome to register ahead of the event this Sunday, 5th September.
This year’s world record attempt is a re-run of the 2019 skittles world record challenge, aiming for the highest ever number of participants in an eight-hour game of skittles.
In 2019, 593 people took part in the challenge and Team Clark were satisfied that the attempt was successful – but a technical error meant that the team didn’t have vital video evidence to claim the official record from Guinness. This year, Team Clark, are determined to let nothing stop them setting a new world record.
Rachel says, “We’re 100% confident we can smash this world record, and we know there are plenty of you out there who will help us do it – you proved that in 2018 and 2019.
“For obvious reasons, we have to run an even tighter ship than usual, so we really need you to pre-register, to help us manage the flow of people and keep you all safe.
“You don’t need to be brilliant at skittles – this record is about numbers, not skill. Everyone throws three balls and as long as you hit at least one skittle, you count!
“Children aged 10 and over are very welcome as long as they’re with an adult. We will accept registrations on the day, but the more of you that register, the better, so keep them coming!”
“As with all Team Clark events, we’re raising money for We Hear You (WHY), a local charity that supports children and adults when they’ve been impacted by cancer or a life-threatening condition, in memory of my mum Shirley. There will be buckets and contactless ways to donate to the charity on the day, please give generously.”
To register for the skittles world record, visit https:// register.enthuse.com/ps/ event/WorldRecordSkittles, look up 10 Years 2021 or We Hear You on Facebook, or scan the QR code on posters around the local area.
The skittles world record attempt takes place outside Frome Library from 9am to 5pm on Sunday 5th September, running alongside the Frome Independent market.

![Town-wide programme brings month of social activities in May
A month-long programme of activities and events is set to take place across the town in May as part of an initiative encouraging residents to connect with themselves, each other and local places.
The scheme, Frome Connects, will run throughout the month and includes a mix of social activities, creative events and informal meet-ups in community spaces.
Highlights include the return of Dress Up Fridays, which began during lockdown and invites people to wear formal clothing or fancy dress and turn the town into their catwalk each Friday.
Set-piece moments include a Kate Bush-themed flashmob (Running Up That [Catherine] Hill) on 30th May, followed by a bell peal at St John’s Church where the bells will play Running Up That Hill.
There will also be a whole-town drone photo on Friday 30th May, with everyone encouraged to ‘look up’ at around 12.30pm.
