Forward-thinking businesses are invited to join Somerset Enterprise Centres’ next business breakfast on Friday 28th October.

The event at The Old Church School House in Frome begins at 8am, and the keynote speakers are Laura Brown and Peter Andrews of Introtweet.

Laura and Peter will discuss how businesses of any sector can best use Facebook, Twitter and Instagram to reach their customers, prospective customers and target audience.

Somerset County Council is also supporting the event as part of its vision for driving business growth, innovation and investment in Somerset through its five enterprise centres at Minehead, Frome, Highbridge, Barle near Dulverton and Wheddon Cross.

Cllr David Hall, Somerset County Council’s Cabinet Member for Business, Inward Investment and Policy, said, “In this digital, social media age it can seem a rarer thing to find a business without an online presence, than with one. If you’re unsure if social media is relevant to your business, want to arm yourself with the tools to master it, or are seeking tips on how to make most effective use of social media, this is a Business Breakfast for you.”

Somerset Enterprise Centres provide help and advice for businesses that are starting up, and businesses aiming to grow and regularly provide events to develop networking opportunities across the South West.

Andrew Tudor, Somerset Enterprise Centres Co-ordinator, said, “I would urge any local businesses in Somerset to attend this event to pick up tips and tricks on extending your Facebook reach, using twitter to build your brand awareness and learn how you can use Instagram to gain an instant new audience.”

The cost is £5, which includes breakfast. Register your place at the Frome business breakfast by visiting www.somerset-enterprise-centres.co.uk/events

For information about the event or Somerset Enterprise Centres, please email Andrew Tudor on andrew.tudor@tedcltd.com or call 01278 550250.

  • Early successes as new bowls season gets underway

Frome Park Bowls Club men’s team have had a promising start to the season with some good results.

Newly promoted Frome Park B started their campaign in the Somerset County League East Division 1 against their fellow club members of Frome Park A. It turned out to be a rude awakening for the B team as they had a heavy defeat, losing by 77 - 27 with the A team taking all 12 points. The best rink for the A team was Colin Henning, John Barber, Les Stather and Steve West.

The A team then travelled to Paulton to play Purnells B. Again Frome Park were far too strong for the hosts and ran out comfortable winners by 80 - 24 and picking up the maximum 12 points.

Frome’s best rink, winning by an impressive 33 - 7 was Colin Hinvest, Keith Haines, John Barber and Steve West.
