Local business raises over £5,000 for Dorothy House Hospice

THE Wig Sanctuary in Frome has raised over £5,000 for Dorothy House Hospice.

Owner Cassie King raised £5,382.81 by waiving her consultation fee and instead asking clients to donate to Dorothy House after seeing her loved ones affected by cancer.

“I would like to extend a warm thank you to all those who contributed in making everything possible,” said Cassie.

“I’ve seen loved ones affected by cancer, so I’m passionate in promoting a positive self-image during what can be a very stressful time. But there are many different reasons for hair loss so whatever your situation, The Wig Sanctuary provides a professional service that is tailored to your needs.

“Despite the lows that come with hair loss, thankfully, the tissues provided on the Sanctuary dressing table are frequently used to mop up tears of laughter.

“My hairdressing background enables me to personalise my wigs through cutting and thinning whenever necessary, for which there is no charge.

“I receive such encouraging feedback in what I’m doing, and that time spent at The Sanctuary is an uplifting experience.”

A recent client said, “You’ve made a huge difference to me and how I feel as a woman, a mum, and a wife to my husband. You were so kind and patient.”

Another client, said,  “Thanks so much for helping me, my ‘new hair’ looks very natural. I had such a lovely time. Your Wig Sanctuary is a bit like therapy! You are doing a great service for people struggling with hair loss.”

Cassie continued,  “I feel very blessed in being able to help and both humbled and honoured to receive such heart-felt feed back from so many amazing women.

Steph Cox, the community fundraiser for Dorothy House said, “Every donation we receive makes a difference to people’s lives. This gift means a great deal to the patients and families we look after every year who benefit from our nursing, counselling, complementary therapies, group activities and much more.

“At Dorothy House, our aim is to provide the best possible level of care for all our patients, and to give that care where people want it most.  While many of our core services are based at the hospice in Winsley, the majority of our work is provided out in the community, much of it in patients’ homes. All our services are provided free of charge and are only possible with the generous support of the community.”
