As cases of mental health difficulties among young people continue to rise, it is more important than ever to take time out to prioritise mental wellbeing.
YMCA Mendip & South Somerset is calling on everyone to do just that by taking a whole hour for themselves on World Mental Health Day (10th October).
The organisations says, “Following the success of its launch last year, ‘Whole Hour’ returns as part of #IAMWHOLE, YMCA’s global and ground-breaking anti-stigma campaign for mental health.
“With an estimated 20% of children and young people experiencing mental health difficulties worldwide each year, Whole Hour encourages people to show their support and help champion positive mental health.
“Whether that hour involves something active, creative, healthy, mindful or simply relaxing, there are so many different ways to make yourself feel good.
Join YMCA Mendip & South Somerset in their own Whole Hour activities on World Mental Health Day, including:
• Special crafty activities at Routes Drop-in Centre in Frome for 16-25 year olds from 12noon to 4.30pm in partnership with MAKESHED.
We also invite our staff to take a longer break on the 10th of October, going out for coffee & cake and a relaxing chat with the colleagues. Our housing project managers will offer a bring & share plate together and a short film on relaxation tips and techniques. They will also use resources like Mind Mapping for wellbeing and other ones kindly provided from P2i psychologists. The activity will be offered at Frome, Wells, Yeovil and Street housing projects for staff to get together and share some time out to think about their health and wellbeing and how to look after themselves.
