A LOCAL woman has written a book and is seeking support to have it published, hoping it will help people in the area who are supporting someone with a gambling habit.
Frome writer Dianne Sangster’s story, Flutter, tells how she fell in love with and married a secret gambler, following their journey to free their lives from the addiction.
“Compulsive gambling affects thousands of people every day and is often very hard for members of their families to identify and then deal with,” explained Dianne. “If my book helps increase awareness of the problem and the resources available out there to help, then all the hours of writing and editing will have been worth it!”
Dianne is working to have her book published through a self-publishing company and has launched a crowdfunding campaign on the Kickstarter platform to make this happen. The campaign, which runs until 8th December, is already over halfway to its target.
“I am so grateful to all the people who have supported me so far, including my family, friends and Frome Writers’ Collective,” says Dianne. “Tony, my husband, died from cancer just a few years ago, but Flutter is also very much a tribute to him and to his courage in facing and battling with his addiction.”
