Rook Lane Arts centre in Frome will play host to Lolita Noir’s Crimson Cabaret, a fundraising event in aid of Positive Action on Cancer (PAC) on Saturday 15th September.
Rook Lane will be transformed for an evening of decadent cabaret with top burlesque artists, sensational vintage singing, some fabulous naughty poetry and much more!
The organisers said, “The evening has been sponsored by Solar Communications an independent, privately owned company founded in 1988 that has over 1,000 satisfied Enterprise and SMB clients throughout the UK and Europe. They provide a ‘one stop shop’ communications portfolio with a focus upon delivering ‘best of breed’ solutions that enable clients to save money, increase productivity and improve customer service.
“Solar Communications is an organisation that has built its reputation on the delivery of outstanding customer service. This, combined with a broad portfolio of value-added products and services, enables them to deliver feature rich solutions for the most demanding and complex customer deployment.
“A number of Solar employees will be there cheering the acts on as they raise money for this wonderful cause, and they even have a staff member performing in the show! Solar’s generous donation will allow all ticket proceeds to be donated to Positive Action on Cancer.
“Positive Action on Cancer (PAC) offer free, professional counselling to anyone affected by a diagnosis of cancer or other life threatening illness. This includes any family, friends and carers as well as patients. They also offer bereavement counselling. This is a free service which they provide, but all counsellors are fully qualified and paid for the work they do. One counselling session costs PAC £40. Lolita Noir’s Crimson Cabaret will include the talents of Miss Gemma Sheree (creator of Coco Boudoir, a Bath based burlesque show), Muriel Lavender (Frome’s very own poetrix, as seen at the Edinburgh festival), Dulcie Demure (creator of the ‘Dulcie Demure School of Burlesque’ in Trowbridge), Miss Cherry Bomb (The Little Red Head with the Big Voice), The Flaming Feathers Dance Troupe (a Bristol based professional dance troupe who have performed all over the country. Headlining will be Miss Tabitha Taboo, the winner of the 2011 Burlesque Newcomer award and was featured in the opening ceremony of this year’s World Burlesque Games.
“There will also be pop up boutiques available for your perusal during the intermissions, including the fabulous Deadly is the Female – a Frome based boutique specialising in faux vintage clothing and accessories; everything a Pin Up needs! Mrs M Cupcakes – a cupcake stall for an indulgent nibble with your drinks, plus more stands to be confirmed. There will also be a raffle which will include many wonderful prizes from local artisans, and an award for the best dressed male and female, so dust off your spats and polish your jewels and you might be in with a chance of winning.”
