FROME Town Council is exploring how best it can support the town’s wealth of community organisations.
The town council says, “Frome is lucky enough to have over 400 community organisations and Frome Town Council are currently looking at how they support community organisations and their needs moving forward.
“This means that a new piece of work will be put out to tender which is hoped to take place across the summer and all community organisations and would ideally suit a free-lance professional familiar with the voluntary sector and their current needs.”
Leader of the Council, cllr Anita Collier says, “Our vision is of a town that embraces community and encourages participation, where local people feel ownership of ideas and spaces, a town where no-one gets left behind, a welcoming town – created on strong, resilient, and caring communities. One way that FTC can support the community is to support the community organisations working in it, with grants support and advice and so this piece of work understanding their needs is extremely important.”
In preparation for this contract Frome Town Council are also urging community groups to make sure that they are signed up to their regular Community Groups newsletter and that their details are up to date on FIND Frome.
The town council continues, “This piece of work will help us better understand how Frome Town Council can support third sector organisations in Frome and inform how they continue to develop and deliver services for local people. They are looking for a freelance contractor to undertake a brief research project and report the findings.
“It will involve talking to organisations delivering services in Frome to understand their accommodation and space, training and funding needs, the advice and support they currently receive from FTC and others.”
Groups looking to update their details should go to www.findfrome. co.uk or contact get in touch at info@frometowncouncil.gov.uk
